I need to start posting more often!

Whoa I've been slacking in the posting department!  A lot has been happening lately.  One of dad's good friends died about a week ago and Sonny and I have been progressing in our horsemanship.  We are working on spinning and 2 days ago as I was asking him to spin I didn't watch where my feet were and now my right foot is black and blue from where he "spun" on it .  It made it so I couldn't play with him yesterday or today...  *growls* I'm just going to suck it up and play with him when I get home later.  The past couple of weeks I've been playing on/off with bowing w/out a treat.  He doesn't have much (if any) back muscle so I've had to take it very slowly to prevent injury.  For a while instead of going down into a bow he'd try to back up with 3 legs (I was holding one of them.) .  Now after a LOT of sweat and tears he's gotten the idea of 'bowing'.  YAY!!!!!  He doesn't go into a full bow yet.  B/c he isn't ready but all I have to do to ask him to try to bow is grab a front leg, bend it, and slowly draw it back and down towards the ground.  I am SOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!  After I've got going down into a bow fully I can then teach him how to lie down on command!!!!!!!  Enough with that now :) .
Sonny and I are also playing in L4 and L5 now!!!!  I can do some of the things on the L4 online assessment and a lot of the things on the L4 freestyle assessment!  I can some/most of the time ride him around bareback w/out a neck-rope and carrot stick!!!!!  WOO HOO!!!!!  I am so blessed with this awesome horse...

Our Freestyle is...

Sonny and I  2-3 years ago

AWESOME!  I can now (some/most of the time) ride Sonny ABSOLUTELY bridle-less!  As in NO neck rope/carrot stick!  WOO HOO!  We are still working on refining it.  But I am soooo HAPPY!!!!  YAY!

Toby and I have been playing around with our freestyle too :).  He can now walk on with out me having to start tapping him with my carrot stick on the rump :).  Over the past few weeks Toby has gotten really good with his halter porcupine game.  He now moves off of the littlest amount of pressure.  This is big for him.  You have to remember that this is the horse that used to play tug-o-war with me EVERYTIME I would ask him to move off of pressure from the halter.

I may have enough money to get the L1/2, L3, AND L4 Parelli *new* level packs!  I have the savvy club now so I only need $300 to buy all 3!  YAY!  I'm going to be getting around $50-100 next weekend and then for Christmas everyone gives me money so I should get $100-200 from that and then for my b-day (January 9th.  I'll be 14!!!  I'm going to be driving in a little more than a year!!!!  Scary!  Stay off the roads!) I get the money they would normally spend going out to eat ($100-150) because I will eat home instead PLUS I get all the money relatives send (I have LOTS of relatives too :} ) so I should be ordering them by Febuary!  I'm really excited!  Well I have to go and price all of my stuff for our yard sale :} .  UGH!

Figure 8's, New Mindsets, Work in Progress, and Interrupting Patterns...

I'm back!  I will start with the first part of my title...  Figure 8's!

For a while I didn't do the patterns because I just, well, I just thought they were plain stupid and they were also EXTREMELY boring (so I thought...).  I had already bought the online and freestyle so I decided, Why Not?  Lets go for 'em!  So I did.  Within FIVE MINUTES I had Sonny, mind you this was our 1st time doing it, TROTTING the pattern!!!!!!  He was also pretty much doing it without my help too!  YEE HAW!  When he gave me that trot eight I almost cried!  The next time I did it he CANTERED IT!!!!!  With drop to walk/trot transitions ;).  I'm SOOOO happy right now!  I was pretty positive before but am now SURE that my horse is *the* smartest horse EVER!!!!
 New Mindsets
I, over the past couple of days, have learned a new mindset.  I noticed that I never really changed my old "traditional" mindset...  So about a week ago I made myself change the mindset I had.  One thing I changed is NEVER to force them to anything but instead offer it to them.  I did that the other night and Sonny doesn't like to jump all that much but I gave him the option of going between me and the jump (which was probably a 10-15 foot gap) or go over the jump.  The first couple of times he went between me and the jump but then all I did was focus on the jump and he jumped it!  YAY!  I also got him to maintain gait (which is hard for him) 2-3 times around all because I did not nag!  Instead when he passed a certain area I would ask him to canter and when he caught on he MAINTAINED THE CANTER THE WHOLE WAY AROUND!!!!  That is HUGE for him!  YAY Sonny!  I am really liking the results I am getting with this mindset.  I think I will keep it!

Work in Progress
The next part of my title is about Toby.  He is definitely a "Work in Progress".  He is so hard to work with but at the same time fun!  You never know what you will get.  Will he be a RBI, a LBI, a LBE, or a RBE today?  He can also switch between all four horsenalities in one play session!  Lately I have been playing with Sonny more than Toby but I have worked with him.  I rode him Saturday and he did AWESOME!  We worked on stopping and moving off my leg into a walk without me having to follow through with a bump or hand slap on the butt.  By the end I got him moving off of a squeeze pretty consistently.  Mostly though I have been spending more undemanding time with them.  Which is fun!

Interrupting Patterns
I just wanted to ask a question.  What do y'all do to interrupt your horses patterns?  Be it if they are acting RBI or RBE or LBI or LBE.  I'm curious!  If my horse (Toby specifically) turns RBI I stop and wait until they lick their lips.  But if they are RBE I send them in a circle and put my back against a fence so that then they have to stop and turn every half circle.  Now for LBI and LBE if they are doing like dominance games with me I send them out onto a circle and make sure they are listening mighty well!  Do you do any of those things?  If so tell me!  I am curious!

A Contest! WOO HOO! Check it out! You'll SO want to enter!

I've decided....  We're goin' to have a contest!!!!  Woo Hoo!  The prize will be a header and/or a blog button!  I have photoshop so I'll leave my email and if you'll just email me (if you win) some pics I'll photoshop (or picnik) them and, if you want, I'll make a header with a bunch pics, or I can make a collage, OR I can do something like what I did as my header...  Well enough of that.  Here is what y'all have to do~

1) Come up with a show name for Red.
I've already decided that his barn name will be Tobias, a Hebrew name which means Goodness of God, or Toby for short.

2) I want (need) Tobias to be somewhere in his show name.

3) The name needs to be original, fun, and appropriate

4) The name needs to fit him.
Look at his page to (About Tobias (Toby) ) to learn about him.

5) The ending date is November 14th

6) I'd like the name to mean something...  A hidden meaning, like words in a different language (preferably Hebrew but any would do :) )

7) Comment with your answer :)!
I may not approve any of them until *after* the contest ;)!

That's all!  Have Fun and go at it!
Here is my email (only email me if you win or need help :D)~

Maybe a contest (if enough people say they'll participate) for a new name for Red

'Ello!  So I was thinking about changing Red's name...  I've already decided his barn name will be Brock (if I change his name...) .  Comment with a show name (when I hold the contest) that will go with it and I may have a prize for whoever wins (after my computer gets fixed...).  I'll hold the contest in a few days if enough people comment and say they'll do it...  I may do it anyway :P!  So COMMENT!!!!!!  I'm also going to *try* to post EVERY-TIME I play with the horses.  I think I'll remember now that I'm on a schedule that seems to be working for me :).  Hope ALL of y'all will comment!

Pictures, Update, and FUN!

Wha'z up?  Sorry I haven't posted in FOREVER!!!!  I've been extremely busy :).  I'll update after I post some pics from a photo shoot mom did with Red and I the other day...

As you can see I've been editing up a storm.  hehe!  It was a lotta fun though!  Okay, I'll update now~

Sonny and I have been working on our finesse a lot.  It's been going pretty good if I do say so myself!  The only thing I can complain about is his immune system :).  He has an overactive immune system so he is allergic to *3* types of flies!  I'll post a vid in a couple of days...  I've been working on the online patterns and he's doing pretty well with them.  I've been sick lately so I haven't done a WHOLE lot.

Red and I have been working on our freestyle and a little online.  We now have him moving off of a squeeze or light bump!  YAY!  I've been more particular about him being shoulder to shoulder to me so he now does a partly energetic walk.  YAY (again) !  We had to have the vet out twice in a week for him though...  He had an impaction colic Monday night and Friday morning he ripped his nose open on our neighbors barbed wire fence and had to get stitches...  Poor guy!  So it's been kinda stressful!

In a couple of days I'll make a post of when my old trainer, Jamie, came down!  I don't have time right now but it was soooooo FUN!!!!  gtg!

I'm ALIVE!!! And I made a movie! lol!

I'm Alive!!!!!!  Sorry I didn't update like I said I would but things have been SUPER busy!  Well I made a video of me and Sonny messing around that I made a couple of weeks ago but JUST got around to uploading!  Well here it is~

I hope y'all liked it!  Ok now I'll update~

Sonny and I have been working on our changes of direction and they have gotten TONS better than in the vid!  Last time I worked with him I got a couple flying changes!  YAY!  He also now does rollbacks as his changes of direction!  lol!  Oh and GUESS WHAT!  As y'all know Sonny and I haven't been able to do much liberty because we don't have a round pen...  Well we STILL don't have a round pen *BUT* we can do the circling game at liberty!  So far we only do it at a walk but we can also do changes of direction at the walk too!  YAY!  I'm SOOOOOOOO excited!  lol!  I am also, starting Monday, am going to, till the end of October, at least, work on our extremely broken sideways game for 10min each and every day to see if I can fix it :).  So pray from me please!  I have an extremely hard time sticking to schedules!  So please pray!  Thanx!

Red and I have been mostly just hangin' out.  I've hopped on him a few times while he was eating grass and he was *bbb!  This is the horse that just a couple of months ago would BUCK and try to attack you if you jumped on him or next to him :O!  I never blogged about when he was doing that because its kinda embarrassing...  lol!  Actually that is why I never really updated about him in the past because he scared me!  Now we are having a WHOLE lotta fun!  lol!

I've gtg!  ttyl!

Writing from my heart... VERY IMPORTANT! You'll want to read this post... Plus a Tag!

Ok so I told my little cuz that I would post what I wanted to do in life and about this new program I am starting.

Ok I'll start with the link and why I am doing this new program... The link is
http://www.artofnaturaldressage.com/
I'll still do parelli but will do this one too because I believe you should use *many* different trainers and clinicians. I've also noticed Parelli is pretty repetitive and Sonny and I get bored *AMAZINGLY* fast! This new program also has some things that I want to learn to do and I am getting into dressage and I want to achieve it Naturally and *without* a bit :) . They also are not as arrogant as Parelli! Have y'all noticed how most clinicians are *very*, and I mean *VERY*, arrogant? I also don't like how they are treated like gods... But I like their approaches sooooooo..... Yah.

When I grow up I would like to take in 3 strike mustangs, rescue horses, and *unwanted* teenagers (key word, unwanted!). I've wanted to do this since I was 10 years old! I'd pair up a teen with a compatible horse and let them battle it out ;)! lol! The reason so many teens are doing what they are doing is because they don't have the love they need at home so they look for it elsewhere. The orphaned teens also *know* they are unwanted! It's so sad... I can't wait till I'm 18 so I can start doing what I want to with my life! Right now I'm just trying to get all the knowledge I can so that then I can teach them. I plan on having a lot of acreage in the middle of nowhere and maybe homeschool them? That way they would be around the Word of God and wouldn't be able to run away as easily ;-)! lol! I might make my Walk Of Faith Blog tell about my walk to where I want to be in life... hmmmm... Okay I'm back on subject. I really think God is calling me to do this because I have a HUGE desire to do this! It all started when I read the book The Cross and the Switchblade. You HAVE to read this book! It is my FAVORITE BOOK EVER!!! What do YOU want to do with your life?

I'm going to make a tag! Here it is~

What do YOU want to do with your life?
Make a post telling your readers what you are going to do to change the world, why you are doing it, and how are you going to do it. God has a purpose for EVERYONE be it to be a parent, a missionary, or to just show your faith on your sleeve!?! I the maker of this tag feel God is calling me at 13 years of age to help my fellow teens! When I grow up I want to take in unwanted teenagers and rescue horses/3 strike mustangs. God has placed a desire in my heart and I feel led to do this. The big thing is not one person has told me this isn't possible because with God EVERYTHING is possible! Right now I am working on wearing my faith on my sleeve and showing the world that 1 person CAN make a difference! Even a 13 year old named Lauren Mitchell! Lets show the world how serious we are and that being a Christian is AMAZING! Here is the link to the blog~

My Flash Of the Obvious...

...was AMAZING! I have SO misread Red! I've been thinking he was a LBI/LBE lately because he started being lazy and most of the RBI characteristics went away... Boy was I wrong! He's LBI until he is pushed past a threshold and I haven't been tuning in really well to what he is telling me until a couple of days ago. I was working on his online work and I noticed that every time I would ask for him to do a full circle around me he'd tense up and take off. I contributed it to being LBE because he was taking off in the direction Rambo was in and he tends to get snotty when going away from Rambo. Then I decided to try something else so I worked on his stick-2-me attitude and he was great walking towards and away from Rambo!?! Well that when the FOB happened... I realized that he was going RBI because he would get tense then go "catatonic", which I thought was him being a lazy LBI, and if I kept the pressure on like I would if Sonny would go LBI he would take off!!! Well I then went and every time I noticed him getting tense I would take the pressure off and leave him alone till he licked and chewed. I probably had the BEST session I have ever had with him EVER!!! He came up to me after I ended the session and it was like he was saying "Thank-you for understanding me". He followed me around for a minute and then he went back to the grass and I headed inside. I can't wait until it stops raining so I can go and play with him!

Lesson fun!

As you can guess from the title I have been giving some lessons...  My cousin and her friend come once a week on Thursday for a lesson.  I put them on bareback usually 'cause I like to torture them...  lol!  JK!  I put them on bareback to strengthen their muscles and to teach them how to have balance because my saddle is a hunter jumper saddle so you are pushed WAY forward and so they can't get their balance point real well. They have been doing REALLY good I usually do around 45min-1hour of ground work with them and then 10-20 minutes of riding time because I want them comfortable on the ground first because then the confidence transfers into the saddle and they will then try new things and progress faster:).

Sonny and I are "unofficial" level 1 grads and level 2 online and freestyle grads:). We can do all the stuff on the checklist:).  If I want to do the savvy club I have to pay for it myself so I can't do the "official" auditions :(... Oh well... We are now starting our finesse and Sonny is doing MARVELOUSLY! It is sooo fun! Any tips? I'll *try* to make a movie if I can get my camera working again:P! Ever since I started Parelli everyone keeps commenting on Sonny and I's bond. I don't see anything spectacular but everyone else seems to???? But I just tell everyone that its because of Parelli;)! I think that I have reverted some ppl to it because Sonny pretty consistently draws at a trot and lets me ride him around bridleless and bareback so I show everyone that and their jaws drop! I crack up laughing! Its soooo easy get it, too, if you work on creating that bond, rapport, and respect first. I mean ANYTHING is possible if you have those 3 fundamentals down! Sonny is definitely my dream horse!

Red and I have been playing with our freestyle and I can now consistently get a trot!!!! YAY! Once my EXTREME LBI OFFERED IT!!!! Our online is getting better... I can get 1/2 lap of trot on the circling game when I get really insistent about it. Our sideways game is coming along slowly but not so surely ;P! lol! Red is sooo sweet and LOVES to cuddle! Red is definitely my challenge! He is the biggest challenge I've had yet :P! The reason is because we both have REALLY different person/horseanalities:)! Well I've gtg help make dinner 8D!

Bridleless riding...

Sonny is doing soooo good with his freestyle:)!  We can weave, do figure 8's, trot to walk to halt to back up transitions w/out using anything but my body language!!!!!!!  Our online is doing good but I need to learn when to stop.  He does really good until I either a) bring him away from his buddies  or b) ask for a figure 8.  I got a couple good figure 8's then stopped.  Our Liberty is doing good and he will now pretty consistently trot after me and I can sit under him w/out worrying about getting run over by him:)!  I am going to *try* to get a round pen set up but I have to earn up the money for the T-posts and electric tape myself:P!  lol!  I can't wait until I have one!!!!  We can't afford to do the corral panels because they are soooo expensive!  I would rather have a barn:P!  lol!
Red's been doing good too:).  I've been working on his confidence issues with the purple ball.  He's gotten a whole lot better:)!  I haven't ridden him in a while because he was growing but hopped on for a second yesterday and he did REALLY good for not being ridden in a while:)!  Well I've gtg!  ttyl!

Freestyle Patterns...

YAY!!!  I JUST finished ordering the freestyle patterns and I CAN NOT WAIT until they get here:)!  Well on with the horses~

Sonny and I have been doing hill therapy although I still ride:)!  The hill therapy is doing pretty well:)!  I have also been working on him moving going AWAY from the other horses and he was doing horribly but last night I got him LB again by doing a ton of close range circles with slack in the rope.  He did REALLY good:)!  I've also been working on our bridleless riding and I can now do about anything with him bridleless w/ carrot stick and savvy string of course:)!!!!!  I can get him to back up with me just wiggling my legs, Lateral Flexion with my carrot stick, jump him 18-24 inches high, and a start of a spin:)!  I am sooo excited!  I won't post a video of it yet because we are still pretty uncoordinated:)!

Red and I have been working on mounting and dismounting, the 7 games, and some jumping from the ground:)!  He is slowly but surely getting better about everything...  The dismounting can sometimes still warrant a nasty look but we have pretty much fixed that:)!  lol!  Well I've gtg eat lunch:)!  ttyl!

Liberty HERE WE COME!!!!

Sonny and I are ready for liberty!!!!  YAY!!!!  I just REALLY need a round pen!  lol!  We have been working on transitions (walk to trot to canter and etc.) and Sonny has picked up on it sooo fast:).  Last night I also taught him how to bow:)!  He picked it up almost immediately.  He now is a bowing fiend!  Our changes of direction are coming along and we are going to start hill therapy soon because it is supposed to help his stifle.  Our sideways game has REALLY improved!  I got some REALLY nice and relaxed close range (with the rope dragging on the ground!) circles that took my breath away!

Whoever said life was easy...

Was SO right;)!  I was going to post how BAD everything has been, but today Sonny and I just had a MAJOR breakthrough session:)!  YAY!!!!  I got, not 1, not 2, but 3 LAPS OF TROT on the 22'!!!!  I have figured out something.  He HATES the 12' for some odd reason.  The second I snapped the 22' on he was a TOTALLY different horse.  He became more extroverted and playful, he even offered me the trot!  AMAZING!!!  This is the horse that usually REFUSES to do the circling game at a walk much less a TROT!  I also got him to jump the stack of logs out by where the barn is going, it took a little while but I finally got him to understand that he WAS GOING to jump the logs:)!  I then let him off and jogged up to the house AND HE TROTTED AFTER ME!!!  I was SOOOO HAPPY!!!  We are also almost ready for liberty (We just need a round pen:)).  He does a VERY close range circling game with the rope dragging and his body arched nicely around me.  I can't wait for liberty:D!

Red and I have started working on the circling game, sideways game, and the squeeze game.  He has been doing REALLY good!  I got him to trot on the circle!  HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT!  He even offered it!  Yes you heard right my EXTREME LBI OFFERED a TROT!!!  I was sooo proud of him!  We then worked on him walking AWAY from Rambo.  After that I let him off.  Can't wait for what tomorrow brings:)!

RBE Blowout

~Yesterday~
Sonny had a REALLY LBE/RBE episode last night.  It had just stopped raining so I went out to play with him.  He was being a bit too playful so I ran inside to get my 22ft to keep him out.  I started the circling game and he TOOK off!!!  My usually LBE/LBI turned into a TOTAL RBE!  He took off towards his friends so I followed him and caught him and tried again, he did it again, again, and again...  I finally got smart and put his mind to work by doing the circling game and letting the rope get caught by trees and yo-yoing him 1 step back and then 1 forward and so on and so forth.  He got Left Brain again and so I let him off:).

~Today~
I got Sonny and went through the pre-ride checklist and he passed so I hopped on.  His stifle locked a little bit so I did a million transitions and straight lines, he did pretty good.  He was being real sluggish so I got his energy up by asking him to go ssssslllllooooowwwww...  He started to want to go faster:D!

Red and I had fun riding.  We worked on do a nice, fast, rein swinging walk ALL the way around the ring, AND HE DID IT!!!  My LBI OFFERED a faster walk!!!!  Mind Boggling!  So I hopped off and worked on ponying him off Arby and I about got my arm jerked off.  He is a LBI so he is slow and Arby is a RBE so she is REALLY fast.  I should have thought about it but noooo Lauren just hopped on and hoped for the best *sigh* NOT a good decision!  Well its over now.

I've got to go watch this show that my mom wants me to watch that is why I shouldn't take drugs (which I never would)...

I rode Red last night and man did we have a blast:)!!!!  I got him moving off my legs a bit better and I got him turning and backing up!  YAY!  I also almost got bucked off him:)!  lol!  Lexi took off jogging and Red decided he was going to have fun and take off a buckin'!  lol!  He only did 2 little halfhearted bucks before I got him under control, but still they were bucks none the less!  Usually when I ride him he is like an old broke horse.  Yesterday a car horn went off and HE DIDN'T EVEN FLINCH!  YAY RED!!!  I like caps lock:D!  lol!  When I played on the ground with him I could do "helicopter" over his head and the extreme friendly game w/out him flinching, unlike just a couple of weeks ago he almost ran me over when I tried to do it.

I rode Sonny around with his halter and 1 rein and he did SPECTACULAR!  We rode at a trot in LOTS of straight lines:).  When I worked with him on the ground I did some Stick-2-Me and driving game.  He did OK.  Not his best but he still did it.  We also worked on backing by the tail and he did REALLY well.

Here is the video I promised of the camp~

Riding Red and Playing with Sonny

Hi y'all!  Sonny's stifle is locking AGAIN!!!  UGH!  Oh Well...  Lots of Cavelletti!  lol!

Well Sonny and I have been working on our circling and sideways games:).  I have figured out why our circling game was so horrid was because I was doing the phase 1 I have always done but Sonny decided that was a phase 2 or 3!  So I started to do an even softer phase 1, AND IT WORKED!!!  YAY!  He left at a trot and maintained the trot for 1 or 2 laps!  I have also been working on our freestyle and he is starting to round himself out and develop the self-carriage he used to have???  Confusing 'cause I am not asking him to round himself out...

Red and I have been doing well I rode him again yesterday with a rope halter, the 12' tied into reins (of course!  lol!), and bareback!  Wheeeeee!  I did it w/out a "leader/spotter" and he did really well.  By the end of the session I had him moving off a squeeze and a cluck.  He was bending well and turning fairly well for his 4th time riding:).  We had a lot of fun!

Update and Fun

Hi!  Sorry I haven't updated in like FOREVER!!!  Been really busy and I haven't been able to work with the horses that much because of the heat, humidity, and I have been having issues with my left shoulder and neck:(!!!  I woke up Sunday morning crying at 5:30am and couldn't move without SEVERE pain.  It took me 1 HOUR to get out of bed and get my parents *sigh*.  Now I also have a bad head cold!!!!  UGH! But Oh well...

Sonny and I have been fixing our yo-yo game cause I hadn't been doing it in a while because he physically couldn't back up because of his stifle.  So instead I did a lot of trotting in straight lines and things like that.  But last night I FIXED THE YO-YO GAME!!!  YAY!  We have also been doing some sideways game and fixing his dominance issues 'cause they have reared their ugly head again *sigh*...

Red and I have been working on confidence issues.  We have done a WHOLE LOT of the touch-it pattern and just for fun I have been dragging things behind him because I want to teach him how to pull things when he stops growing *smiles* 'cause that would be LOTS of fun:)!  hehe!  We have also been doing the principle games and the yo-yo game:)!

Arby and I have been sorting out who is the boss and "impulsion" issues.  She likes to take off, tends to jig in place, and throws little "hissy" fits when told she can't go be with her "friends":).  FUN!  We have been having a little success...

Rambo and I have been playing around with point to point to help with his impulsion:)!  Hailey has been working on the principle games with him and he is doing pretty good with them:)!

I'm making a movie of the camp and should have it up in 1-3 weeks;D!  Hope y'all will like it :)!

THE PATTERNS CAME IN!!! And a case of LBIness...

Hi!  Whats up?  I GOT MY ONLINE PATTERNS!!!! YAY!!!  I am SOOOO excited!  It was worth the 75.00$ I paid but NOT the 143.00$ they're charging when it is not on sale.  I did the figure 8 patterns with Sonny and we are already, after only 2 times of doing it, at level 2!!!  I am going to do my level 1/2 audition in a couple of weeks/months because I want to try to get 1++ or AT LEAST 1+'s.  And it is also EXPENSIVE!!!  I may do it after Christmas because I am already begging for the savvy club membership from my grandparents for Christmas:)! lol!  And I get 100$ from my other grandparents for Christmas so I'll use that money on the Audition(s):D.  Hehehe!  I'll post about the camp when I have time because it will take a LONG TIME to post about it all:)!  Well here are some updates~
~Sonny~
We have been working on his figure 8's and Stick-2-Me and now AT LIBERTY we can do a walk and trot!  YAY!  I am soooo excited!!!
~Red~
We have been playing the yo-yo game and working on lightness during the driving and porcupine games because right now he is VERY VERY non responsive *sighs* .  He has also turned COMPLETELY 100% LBI/RBI online when I play "tag" with him he is COMPLETELY LBE but the second a line gets snapped on him he turns LBI...  Hints anyone???

Update, Horse Camp, and FUN!

Hey! How is everyone? I have been SOOOO busy preparing for a camp that we are doing on our property that starts TOMORROW at 9am!!!! I have 2 helpers and 10 KIDS from the ages of 6-13!!!!! BUSY!!!! Well hers whats up with Sonny and me~
We have gotten REALLY bored of the seven games and I think that as soon as I work the kinks out of his circleing and squeeze game we can send our level 1 audition in! YAY! Well, we have already started playing in level 2 cause we are BORED TO DEATH with level 1! I am starting to teach him how to do carrot stick riding and backing by the tail... We have been focusing more on riding because he needs to get back in shape so his stifle stops "locking" and the only way to REALLY get him in shape is by riding him hard and doing some collecting and cavelletti's. Oh, I have also found his ABSOLUTE FAVORITE spot to be scratched.... INSIDE HIS EAR!!! Not down it but still inside it! He acts like a dog and leans into it!

We have been just moseying around and getting him to trust me more:)!

I ALMOST DIED and I have a training prospect

Hi!  Last night I rode Cheyanne (our neighbor's horse) !!!  I work with her every now and then but I had never ridden her.  It was fun and she is already Parelli Level 2 on the ground!!!  In the saddle is a WHOLE different story!  She is NOT stable at a walk much less a trot!  I wasn't even going to try to canter...  So I did a LOT of walk to halt transitions and when she would relax at a halt I would walk and then when she would tense up we would halt and relax again.  I got off of her when I got a nice RELAXED trot:)!  If they don't sell her today I may be able to train her and bring her to my house for training!  YAY!!!
So I also almost died today...  Our car's tire BLEW out and we almost flipped AND we almost ran into the overpass when the tire blew!  I'll post some pics on my other blog when I get them off of my mom's cell phone:)!

I GOT THE ON-LINE PARELLI PATTERNS!!!!

Hey!!!  Waz up?  I got the on-line parelli patterns!  YAY!  It should be here Tuesday or Wednesday!  I am soooo excited!  Oh yah, Sonny colicked not last night but the night before so I was up REALLY late.  UGH!  He's fine now but he gave me a scare. I almost called the vet which I don't usually do for colic because I have handled so many colicky horses it ain't even funny!  He was down and he all the sudden THREW his neck onto the ground and his eyes rolled back into his head so I got him up and gave him some banamine and was going to give him 30 minutes till I called the vet but he slowly got better so I made him a warm mash and that seemed to perk him up so in about an hour he was fine and dandy!  What do y'all think it could have been?  Oh and I just found the funniest movie online here it is~

Catch up...

Well, last night at about, oh, idk, 8 or 9 o'clock I went out and played with Sonny. There was a breakthrough!! WHOO HOO!!! For a while now he has refused to do the circling game because I got real direct lined about it and would ALWAYS drill him. So, when things fell apart we quit doing it because we would end up frustrated and the session would end up in the tank.  So last night I worked on the porcupine game and did that till he was moving with little to no resistance.  Then we did the driving game until he was VERY light and responsive, I then did some Stick-2-Me to make him a little more in tune with me. Then I decided to attempt the impossible, THE CIRCLING GAME!!! I had watched a parelli show recently about how to teach your horse how to load into the trailer and it had some good tips on how to get a balky horse to move. The tips were - loooong phase 1, short phase 2,3,4, and LOTS of feel. So I applied it and he did half a lap before I called him in. Gtg!

Sonny did the circling game!

Hi!  I got Sonny to do the crircling game again!  He WOULD NOT do it...  But the second I put more feel in the rope and before hand worked on the porcupine, driving, and Stick-2-Me games.  YAY!  Well gtg mom is yelling at me to leave...

I'm back!!! And with a Story...

Hi y'all!  Sorry I haven't posted in like FOREVER!!!  I have been REALLY busy.  I got on Red again and I will NEVER EVER ride a horse in a saddle w/ a questionable fit...  I was riding and I pushed him a little bit past his threshold and so he sidestepped, well when he sidestepped the saddle slipped ALL THE WAY TO THE SIDE!!!  I jumped off and landed on my tail bone and couldn't ride for a week and poor Red got scared half to death...  Does anyone know of a good western saddle, not too pricey, that would fit a wide backed horse?  I am getting a wintec wide for Christmas or my b-day probably but am getting a western within 1-3 months.  For now I am riding Red around bareback **SHHH my parents don't know** LOADS OF FUN!!!  Here is a video that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE!!!~

Hope you like them:)!

A Good Poem...

When you run so fast to get somewhere
you miss half the fun of getting there
if you worry and hurry through your day
it's like an unopened gift
thrown away
Life is not a race
Do take is slower
hear the music
before the song is over."
