My Play Session The Other Day (2-24-10)

G'Day Mates!  How are all of y'all?  Well I hope!  I haven't been working with Sonny and Toby much because I was grounded from doing anything but feeding for a while :|.  I was really behind in school...  Like a month in some subs *cheeks flame bright red*.  But I got caught up in like 2 days (but was grounded for a week or 2)!  And I'm in, like, 10th grade!

~Sonny~

~Online~
I played online with him by trying to get him *almost* to the end of the 45' while maintaining a connection.  He did pretty good if I do say so myself...  He was able to go and stand on whatever he decided I *might* want him to stand on with confidence :).  Ever since I taught him how to get onto the pedestal that's ALL he wants to do!  If he can stand on it stand on it he does :}!
Then I did some extreme friendly.  He was, of course, GREAT at it :}!  After that I let him off and we played at...

~Liberty~
I'm SO SO SO SO SO SOOOOO happy Sonny and I are finally at the point where I can play at Liberty in the middle of our property (wothout a round-pen mind you!) with my little sister playing with Rambo!  I got him to do a spin!  Woo Woo!  I can't even get him to do that online so I was excited to put it lightly!  I played around with our circling and driving and porcupine...  He did everything I asked him to at a phase 1 or 2.  Woo Woo!  Then we played with our...

~Freestyle~
I didn't do much besides hop on and work on our figure 8 WITHOUT a stick or string!  He did pretty good so after 1 figure 8 we quit and just sat watching and coaching my little sister with her *new* gelding, Rambo (for all of you new to this blog we've had Rambo for a while ;) It's only that he JUST got gelded Tuesday) :D!  If you want to hear about his gelding check it out here.

~Toby~

~Online~
We worked on NOT bucking during the circling game and getting a TROT no matter how slow while circling!  That took a while to put it lightly!  Then when I worked with him yesterday he did the same bucking thing but it was an 'I'm scared' type of thing so we had to figure that out...  Sounds like fun, eh?  But other than that we've been doin' good :).

~Freestyle~
I got him to walk by barely touching him!  YAY Toby!  Since he's still only 2 we haven't been doin' much Freestyle work besides putsing around the property...

~Rambo~

~Online~
We worked on our touch-it game, our porcupine, our driving, and our yo-yo games.  It was fun!  And hard!  I never understood Rambo before now.  I first had to understand Sonny, then I had to understand Arby, then I had to understand Toby before I could even begin to understand Rambo!  So I worked on his confidence :).  He is definitly a RBI.  To the max!  So I've been figuring him out lately.

~Arby~

~Online~
We played with getting LB and getting caught.  Tons of fun!  NOT!  lol!  But at the end Hailey could get her LB and *most* of the time catch her without too much fuss (as in no running around for 30min instead only trotting a couple of yards before stopping so you could catch her).  Then we let her go roll and torment the poor boys... *Sigh*

I *might* do a picture post sometime this week :).  I just have to get someone to take them for me :}!

Update and Fun

Hi!  Sorry I haven't updated in like FOREVER!!!  Been really busy and I haven't been able to work with the horses that much because of the heat, humidity, and I have been having issues with my left shoulder and neck:(!!!  I woke up Sunday morning crying at 5:30am and couldn't move without SEVERE pain.  It took me 1 HOUR to get out of bed and get my parents *sigh*.  Now I also have a bad head cold!!!!  UGH! But Oh well...

Sonny and I have been fixing our yo-yo game cause I hadn't been doing it in a while because he physically couldn't back up because of his stifle.  So instead I did a lot of trotting in straight lines and things like that.  But last night I FIXED THE YO-YO GAME!!!  YAY!  We have also been doing some sideways game and fixing his dominance issues 'cause they have reared their ugly head again *sigh*...

Red and I have been working on confidence issues.  We have done a WHOLE LOT of the touch-it pattern and just for fun I have been dragging things behind him because I want to teach him how to pull things when he stops growing *smiles* 'cause that would be LOTS of fun:)!  hehe!  We have also been doing the principle games and the yo-yo game:)!

Arby and I have been sorting out who is the boss and "impulsion" issues.  She likes to take off, tends to jig in place, and throws little "hissy" fits when told she can't go be with her "friends":).  FUN!  We have been having a little success...

Rambo and I have been playing around with point to point to help with his impulsion:)!  Hailey has been working on the principle games with him and he is doing pretty good with them:)!

I'm making a movie of the camp and should have it up in 1-3 weeks;D!  Hope y'all will like it :)!

Update

Hi!  Well here is everything that has been going on~
Red colicked night before last and I had to stay up ALL night w/ him!  It ended up he just had some gas.....

I haven't had much time to work w/ the horses since its been raining but it did stop long enough for me to go and ride Sonny and work on his attitude; -)!  He was trying to kick me every time I got on so I fixed that, I did the circling game at an extended trot for 2 times around every time he'd do it and that fixed the problem very quickly ; -)!

Red's been doing OK I've started desesitizing him to the saddle and leaning over him and stuff to get him used to me being above him:).  I'll probably start backing him in 6-9 months but before that I'm going to do some cavelletti therapy so he is more prepared and will have a little more muscle:)!

Rambo has been, well, he's just Rambo.....  I've been working on his back legs being touched w/out him kicking out in fear.  He's doing REALLY well!  The reason I'm doing that is because he kicked my dog Jake HARD because something tickled his lower back leg and he FLIPPED HIS LID!  But everyone's OK:)!

Arby is in heat (we think) so we've been leaving her be because she can get nasty when she's in heat!  She'll be fine one min. and then the next trying to take your head off!  Hailey did ride her the day Saturday.  Arby was good....  I really need to do some cavelletti therapy w/ her to help her back become more rounded and for her to get some more muscle mass.....

Well that is (I think) everything:)!  See Ya!

Sonny and misc

Hi! I FINALLY got Sonny to do the circling game at a walk and trot in both directions!!!  He has been doing REALLY good!  Red has too.....  I had a panic attack/not enough protein/my electrolites off and I started shaking and could NOT stop!!!!!  I felt sick and I felt like !?**!? : -D!  SO I didn't work w/ the horses much (DUH!  LOL!!).......  Hey does anyone have any ideas on how to get Red to not be so attached to Rambo?  I have separated them and everything!  The only issue is the only 2 paddocks we have are right next to each other so they interact by and over the fence.......  Well, please comment if you have any suggestions!

A Good Poem...

When you run so fast to get somewhere
you miss half the fun of getting there
if you worry and hurry through your day
it's like an unopened gift
thrown away
Life is not a race
Do take is slower
hear the music
before the song is over."
